The 2004 Liesse d’Harbonville is the latest release from Laurence Ployez. Made from 70% Chardonnay and 30% red grapes (including both Pinot Noir and Meunier), it was barrel-fermented without malolactic fermentation, and spent nearly 16 years on lees before disgorgement in March 2021.
The nose is elegant and complex, showing apple, pear, brioche, chalky minerality, a touch of hazelnut, and subtle oak and smoke. On the palate, it’s vibrant, layered, and full-bodied, with refined mousse, excellent acidity, and a long, impeccably balanced finish.
More elegant than the 2002 vintage, this is perhaps the most refined release yet of this Tête de Cuvée. While already drinking beautifully, it’s built for decades of aging, with its peak likely still a decade away. Drink 2023–2075.
