Pio Cesare’s Barolo Mosconi is a rare single-vineyard expression, sourced from the oldest Nebbiolo vines in their family-owned plots in Monforte d’Alba—one of Barolo’s most esteemed regions. Known for producing wines of remarkable depth and longevity, this limited-release bottling was first introduced in 2015 by Pio Boffa to mark his 60th birthday, following the acquisition of the historic Mosconi vineyard.
Fermented in stainless steel with extended maceration, then aged for 30 months in large oak botte (with a portion in French barrels), this wine unfolds with layers of violets, roses, and dark fruit, accented by sandalwood, cedar, and a hint of flint. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with a silky texture and a finish that lingers beautifully.
A must for collectors of age-worthy Italian reds, this Barolo will shine after 2027 and for decades beyond. Pair it with slow-braised meats or aged cheeses, or simply savor its evolution over time
