One of the standouts of the vintage and one of the finest recent releases from this estate. Château Faugères is known for marrying power with polish, and the 2016 absolutely delivers. The blend is Merlot-driven at 85%, with Cabernet Franc and a small touch of Cabernet Sauvignon adding lift and structure.
The aromatics are classic and inviting - ripe plums and dark cherries, lots of floral lift, and a subtle hint of blond tobacco. On the palate is generous with polished tannins and a freshness that keeps everything tight and youthful. There’s real depth here, and while it’s drinking well now, it clearly has plenty of life ahead of it.
