Among the three historic Heidsieck Champagne houses, Charles Heidsieck stands out as the smallest and most revered, with a legacy dating back to 1851. This 2013 vintage was carefully aged for 10 years in the house's remarkable UNESCO World Heritage chalk cellars, known as crayères. The cool 2013 growing season, with its late harvest and ideal summer ripening, produced a Champagne of exceptional freshness and elegance. The nose offers layers of white pear, crisp apple, citrus zest, and subtle pastry notes, while the palate is vibrant with racy acidity, a silky texture, and a long, mineral-driven finish. Its balance makes it a perfect match for delicate seafood dishes like oysters or lobster, as well as creamy cheeses.
With its impressive structure and depth, it will continue to evolve beautifully when cellared through the 2030s.
